What is Hospice?
When the quantity of life is limited, Hospice care emphasizes the quality of life remaining by focusing on the emotional, social, spiritual, and physical comfort of the patient and family. This is accomplished through a team of professionals and trained volunteers.

Who is Eligible for Hospice Services?

Individuals with a terminal illness, who wish to remain at home with family and friends, or who reside in a nursing home, assisted living or hospital that has a contract for hospice care with Providence Medical Center.

Individuals who live within approximately 45 miles of Wayne, NE.

Individuals who have attending physician approval and participation.

Individuals who have responsible persons available to give or coordinate care and a primary caregiver in the home.

24 hour, 7 days a week availability

Skilled Nursing Services

Home Health Aides/Homemakers

Teaching: Nutrition, Medications, And Physical Care

Spiritual and Emotional Support

Trained Volunteers (visit patients and families giving friendship and support, assisting with errands, and relieving caregivers for short periods)

Medical Equipment and Supplies

Therapy Services

Pharmacy Consultation

Inpatient hospitalization when needed for symptom management or family respite

Bereavement Support for Survivors up to 1 year after death

Physician Services

Medical Social Services

Counseling Services

Medication Coverage For Meds related to Terminal illness

Call Providence Medical Center Home Care Services at 402-375-4288 or Providence hospital at 402-375-3800 and ask for the home care department.

After 5 p.m., and on weekends, call Providence Medical Center at (402) 375-3800, and ask for the Home Health Care Nurse on call.

Home Health Care services are available without distinction, and patients are accepted for care without regard to race, color, creed, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, handicap, or communicable disease including, but not limited to HIV, MRSA, and Hepatitis B.
