Paper charts are a thing of the past at Providence Medical Center (PMC) in Wayne. PMC has gone live with the Electronic Medical Record!
"We ask our customers to be patient with us as we initiate this process," said Tom Lee, FACHE, Administrator. "We are very excited to bring this technology to our patients and staff, which will most definitely revolutionize how the hospital operates and will greatly enhance the safety of healthcare for the residents of northeast Nebraska."
Along with a computerized physician order entry system, the electronic medical record will integrate the hospital's pharmacy, emergency care, ambulatory care and clinical documentation. Together, these systems will allow caregivers a fully integrated electronic health record.
As a result of the technology, Providence Medical Center will be positioned to meet the 'meaningful use' requirements of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009. "The purpose of President Obama's healthcare reform act was to insure the delivery of safe and evidence-based medicine to the American people," said Kim Bentjen, ParmD, Director of Pharmacy at Providence Medical Center. "Providence Medical Center is on board," she said
