Providence Community Pharmacy – Staff Update

February 26, 2019

With the closing of Shopko Pharmacy in January 2019, Providence Medical Center administration saw an opportunity to expand business in a way that fills a need in the community and fits the hospital’s business model.  Bringing on the staff from the Shopko pharmacy was one of the most important goals in the initial planning stages.

Left to Right: Renae Brenner, Kim Caskey, Cassandra Korth, Rebecca Barner, Rebekah Hackett

With a combined experience of almost 40 years and a long-standing local connection, this team of professionals is eager to get back to providing quality pharmaceutical care to this service area.

Pharmacists, Rebecca (Becky) Barner and Cassandra (Casi) Korth, and Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Renae Johnson-Brenner, Rebeka Hackett, Kimberly (Kim) Caskey will be part of the team at Providence Community Pharmacy.

Rebecca (Becky) Barner will serve as the Retail Pharmacy Coordinator and has approximately 20 years of experience as a pharmacist.  Becky has a long history of providing pharmaceutical care in the Wayne area, starting at Sav-Mor Pharmacy with Will Davis in 2000. In 2003 Pamida Pharmacy purchased files from Sav-Mor and Becky transitioned along with those files to work for Pamida Pharmacy.  Cassandra (Casi) Korth (Pharmacist) joined the Pamida team in 2009. In September of 2012, the Pamida Corporation was sold and became Shopko and Shopko Pharmacy. Shopko Pharmacy closed its doors on January 13 of this year. PMC Pharmacy Director, Kim Lueders, said, “I am grateful that 5 of previously employed Shopko pharmacy team members have accepted a position with the new Providence Community Pharmacy”.

PMC staff and the new retail pharmacy staff have been working diligently to get the pharmacy set up and open in March 2019!

PMC and Providence Community Pharmacy are committed to keeping the public informed so please watch for additional updates as we near opening day!
