Providence Community Pharmacy Now Open

“It’s the day we’ve been waiting for!” Said Kim Lueders, Director of Pharmacy at Providence Medical Center. Providence Community Pharmacy is opening on April 15, 2019. “Although the date is a little later than originally planned, the process could not have gone any smoother,” said Lueders.

One of the first steps to making the retail pharmacy a reality was to acquire a pharmacy license from the State of Nebraska. Once this was accomplished, application for National Provider Numbers and a DEA (allows for sale of controlled substances) license were possible. “Some licenses can take up to 6 weeks for approval so we’d just hope for the best each time we sent in an application,” said Becky Barner, Retail Pharmacy Coordinator. Once those steps were completed, the last thing to do was work through the contracting process with insurance companies. The pharmacy team has successfully secured contracts with most of the insurance companies. There are a couple left to finalize that won’t be ready until after the 15th so it is important to call ahead if you have questions about the pharmacy’s ability to process claims for your particular insurance company.

Vakoc Builder’s Resource, the PMC IT department, and the PMC maintenance team have worked alongside the pharmacy staff to meet the aggressive timeline and were successful in getting the retail pharmacy building ready for April 15th. The new space offers a private consultation room along with semi private drop off and pick up/cash register areas. State of the art systems for building and information security were also installed to ensure peace of mind for the patients and staff. “When planning the layout of the space, the patient experience and privacy were our main focus. I believe we did a good job addressing both things,” said Lueders.

“Although there may be some final kinks to iron out after opening day, we are excited to have all the necessary steps complete. Our new pharmacy team is ready to get back to work serving their patients again.  This is a very exciting time for PMC and our service area,” said Jim Frank, Providence Medical Center CEO.

Pharmacy Offerings

Providence Community Pharmacy will offer prescription medication services, over-the-counter medication options, and durable medical equipment.  The pharmacy staff will be happy to special order items that are not in stock, with delivery the following day.

“We’ve had great success at our ‘Meet The Pharmacy Team’ events and look forward to serving those patients starting April 15th,” said Casi Korth, Pharmacist. “If you weren’t able to come out to those events and want to establish yourself as a patient, please visit us any time after we open and we will take great care of you.”

Pharmacy hours will be M-F 9 am-6 pm and Sat. 9 am-2 pm. The address of the pharmacy is 803 Providence Road, Suite 101. Many recognize the space as the “old Herman Chiropractic office.”  It is recommend you contact the pharmacy before you come so the pharmacy team can give you details on what items you’ll need to bring when establishing pharmacy services. The phone number for the pharmacy is 402-375-8862 or toll free at 833-389-1522.
